Labouchere System in Roulette
The Labouchere System is much appreciated by roulette players. There are several systems and most of them are based on mathematical formulas that try to counteract the idea of luck. All methods aim to help players win according to the laws of probability. This particular system, not infallible, is a great method to get good winnings without having to increase, exponentially, betting values.
This method was created by Henry Labouchere, finance minister of France between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and is based on a table with predetermined bet values.
This system may seem difficult at first, but it will become easier and easier. Basically this system relies on a list of positive numbers written by the player. If your bet is successful two numbers are removed from the list and if the bet is unsuccessful the amount lost is added to the end of the sequence. This system tries to recover losses with several wins.
Important: This method applies only to outside bets, ie you must place the chips on bets that pay the equivalent of the bet amount. To use this method you should take with you paper and pen to write the sequence of numbers.
Let’s look at a practical example of this method:
- The first thing to do is think of a number, let’s say 15, to form a line of numbers in which their sum makes the total of 15.
- Let’s say you created the line: 2 3 5 4 1.
- The value of your first bet will be 3 units. This is because the Labouchere system assumes that bets are made taking into account the sum of the first and the last number of the line that you created. Thus it will be 2, the first number and 1, the second number.
- In this first bet, you put the chips on Black. However, the ball falls into the red and you end up losing. In this case what you have to do is add to the end of your line the number 3. Your line will then become 2 3 5 4 1 3.
- Following the initial thought, your next bet will be the sum of the first number, 2, with the last number, 3. Thus, your bet will have the value of 5 units.
- Let’s imagine that your next bet will be on Red but the ball falls on Black and you lose your bet once again. You will then have to add the number 5 to your line. It will become 2 3 5 4 1 3 5. Note that every time you lose your line increases.
- Now your bet will be 7 units (2 + 5 = 7). Let’s assume you place your bet on Red and you win. In this case, what you have to do is collect your prize and scratch the first and last number on your line. Thus your line will become 3 5 4 1 3.
- Your next bet will be 6 units (3 + 3 = 6). You must continue to play according to this rules and end when you have only one number. Bet that amount and win the bet. However, be aware that you can stop playing at any time and that you must take into account the maximum amount you can play.
As you can see it is simple and easy to understand. One of the great advantages of this system is that you don’t need consecutive wins to make money. You can have the same number of wins and losses and still have profit.
This system is sometimes confused with the Martingale, however, it is much more secure because there is no need to double your bet when you lose. With this method you can easily control your spending and not take so many risks. Labouchere System is the best to manage your money.
